Make a difference and become a Volunteer!
Join our incredible team of volunteers at St Margaret of Scotland Hospice and help us continue providing the highest quality care to patients and families facing advanced life-limiting illnesses. Since 1950, we have been the oldest and largest Hospice in Scotland, delivering unparalleled palliative and end-of-life care. Our highly trained multi-disciplinary team is dedicated to providing compassionate, safe, and effective care based on our Core Values. But we can't do it alone – that's where you come in!
Why Volunteer with Us?
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our organisation. From short-term skill-building to long-term dedication, our diverse volunteer community brings something special to the table. Whether you choose to volunteer in the Hospice, in the community, or at our shop, your time and effort will make a tremendous impact.
Meet Agnes one of our Fundraising Volunteers
"It feels as if you've got some worth and that you're valued. When I am talking to people on the phone, I hear from those who have had relatives in the Hospice. They speak so highly of it, and you're able to share with them."

How You Can Get Involved
There are numerous ways you can contribute to St Margaret of Scotland Hospice as a volunteer. You can offer your time and skills in our Hospice Charity Shop at Clyde Shopping Centre, Clydebank, either on the shop floor or in the warehouse. Alternatively, you can support us at exciting fundraising events like our Annual Ball or Christmas Bus.
If you prefer a more hands-on approach, you can volunteer directly in the Hospice, providing invaluable support and companionship to patients and their families. You can also make a difference by organising your own fundraising event, big or small, with the support of our fantastic fundraising team.
Another way to contribute is by collecting donation cans from local shops and businesses, helping to raise vital funds for our cause. If you have a green thumb, you can join our gardening team and help maintain the beautiful Hospice gardens, creating a peaceful and comforting environment for patients and their loved ones.
Finally, if you have strong organisational skills, you can assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, shredding, or preparing mailings, to help keep our Hospice running smoothly and efficiently.
Meet Craig one of our Gardening Volunteers
"Gardening is especially important in the Hospice setting. It provides a familiar space in an unfamiliar setting, a calm space where patients and their families can unwind together or alone."

How to Apply
Joining our volunteer team is a simple and rewarding process. Before applying, take a moment to reflect on which area you'd like to volunteer in, the unique skills and qualities you can bring to the role, and the amount of time you can commit each week.
To ensure we recruit and select volunteers safely, we have a thorough application process in place. You'll need to complete a Volunteer Application Form, attend an Interview & Induction Event, successfully achieve the appropriate level of Disclosure, and provide references from two referees.
