Job Overview

To actively work in the shops in the best interests of the Hospice at all times including the general promotion, development and organisation of the Hospice's shops. This will include the initial takeover of premises and the design and “fit-out” phase, launch and opening through to monitoring individual shop performance.

To monitor the safety, security and organisation of the shops working closely with the individual shop managers. This includes the movement of goods including shop fittings and locking and unlocking any of the shops when necessary.

To ensure accurate and efficient administration in the shops ensure the Charity Shop Managers carry out all the duties within their job descriptions and that the Shops carry a common “brand” and ethos. Monitoring individual shops’ performances to ensure that appropriate revenue is maximised and costs minimised in each location.

To help recruit, select, train, motivate and coach staff in the shops including drivers and related roles and support shop managers.

To help recruit, select, train and co-ordinate volunteer help within the shops and support shop managers in this regard.

To be responsible for carrying out regular inspections of all the shop premises in consultation with the Hospice Shop Managers, ensuring that all necessary repairs are undertaken to maintain the fabric of the property and the care and maintenance of the Shops’ fixtures and fittings.

To ensure health and safety guidance regarding the Hospice shops is followed by all staff and volunteers.

To maximise commercial revenues from Hospice shops.
