St Margaret's relatives launch petition to save hospice beds

St Margaret of Scotland Hospice faces an uncertain future with the threat of funding withdrawal by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board and plans to move the Hospice beds to a privately funded facility at Blawarthill. This £1.2m funding withdrawal would have a devastating effect on the Hospice, which currently has to raise more than £30,000 every week to stay open.

A public petition was launched in October 2007 by relatives of patients who have been treated at the Hospice. This has now gathered over 90,000 signatures and has been presented to the Scottish Parliament Public Petitions Committee.

We have provided a letter for you to sign and send to Nicola Sturgeon, the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing and to Tom Divers, the Health Board Chief Executive (under Links below). Please feel free to copy this letter and pass it to your friends and family to sign and send in. We need all the support we can get to protect St Margaret’s from closure, we thank you for coming to this public meeting and we now ask that you send this letter on.

We are truly grateful for your ongoing support. If you would like to contact the Hospice for further information or with your comments, please email at office@smh.org.uk
