St Margaret of Scotland Hospice is proud to announce the opening of a their History Room. The History Room charts the growth of the Hospice, going back to the humble beginnings of the Religious Sisters of Charity, founded by Mother Mary Aikenhead in the early-19th century Dublin, through to its creation in Clydebank and its development at the heart of the local community.
It also illustrates how the unique values of care and compassion, upon which the St Margaret of Scotland Hospice was built, have prevailed to offer a unique environment in which patients with life-limiting conditions are treated with the dignity and love they deserve.
Staff, patients, families and other people who have been instrumental to the growth of the Hospice feature heavily in what is a compelling tribute to a Clydebank institution, with memorable references to community-based fundraising initiatives including the Summer Fete, which stood at the top of the town`s social calendar in its halcyon days.
The History Room, situated to the rear of the shop in the main Hospice building, presents a touching and fascinating look back at the people and events which made the place what it is today, using text, pictures and audio-visual displays. The future of the Hospice, which is so vital the community it serves, is also discussed and depicted in detail.
Please visit the Hospice and ask at reception if you would like to visit the History Room.
