“Induckpendence Day 4 July”-A great Family day out successfully raising over £5000

We were delighted to be given the opportunity by West Dunbartonshire Council to organise our “Duck Race” on 4^th July, the finale of the Council’s Forth & Clyde Festival. Over 1200 sponsored ducks, each with a unique number, took to the waters. They were watched by several hundred onlookers who were highly amused to see Council volunteers in boats helping all the ducks on their way downstream with a little help from grass blowers, all in an effort to get the little creatures over the finishing line.

Mr & Mrs MacFarlane from Bearsden were very pleased that their duck – Number 517- won the race and more delighted as winners, to receive their prize of a Holiday for four at Haggerston Castle together with £250 spending money. In a truly wonderful gesture Mr & Mrs MacFarlane re-donated the £250 back to St Margaret of Scotland Hospice. Our sincere thanks go to them and everyone who supported this fundraising event, which raised a fantastic £5000 and still counting!
